Pastoral Staff

  • Chris Williams
    Youth Pastor

My desire as Youth Pastor is to implement programs that meet the needs of our youth. I strive to create opportunities to build life changing relationships with the youth of our church. Our goal is to create an environment where they feel comfortable expressing their issues and/or concerns.

Our leadership team works hard to demonstrate the love and compassion of Jesus Christ to encourage our youth and contribute to their spiritual and emotional well-being. Our goal is to teach our youth about Christ in a fun and relaxed way.

Christian education is a partnership between church and home. We value parent involvement at every level and encourage you to communicate with us. Please feel free to share any issues, ideas, or topics that you feel needs to be addressed with our youth. I am always available to you and your children.

  • Rev. Richard Gordon
    Pastor Emeritus

Rev. Richard Willis Gordon, a native of Owensboro, Kentucky, became our Pastor in 1962.  During his tenure at First Baptist Church, God gave him the vision to build the new structure.  On December 31, 2005 after seeing the vision become reality, Pastor Gordon announced to the membership he would be retiring after 43 years of spiritual leadership at First Baptist Church.

Pastor Gordon in his sermons prepared the congregation for the transition.  He admonished the congregation to enter a season of consecrated prayer and to seek God’s will in determining the next leader.   By divine guidance from the Lord, Rev. James M. McCarroll, Jr. preached his first sermon July 17, 2006.

Administration

Our office manages the daily administrative responsibilities of the pastoral and administrative teams of the church. Our teams of staff and volunteers process the common needs of the church that occur during normal business hours.

  • Paula Jones
    Director of Worship

On January 4, 2015, Paula F. Jones was propelled into her destiny when she began serving as the Director of Worship at First Baptist Church in Murfreesboro, Tennessee under the dynamic leadership of Rev. James M. McCarroll, Jr.  After several years of inquiring of God about her calling, this assignment gave every God-given gift and desire true purpose.  As the Director of Worship, she serves First Baptist Church’s numerous ministries coordinating multiple aspects of weekly Worship Services and supporting other ministry activities.  In the past, she also served as the Secretary of the Community Service Ministry and as a member of the planning team for the annual Murfreesboro R.I.S.E. Family Festival and Conference.

Paula also serves as a Human Resources Recruitment Consultant for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.  Paula holds a Bachelors (2004) and Masters of Science (2007) from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.  In late 2014, she began pursuing Christian education at Birmingham Theological Seminary, Birmingham, Alabama.

Paula understands that her life is designed to serve and encourage others.  She worshipfully credits every victory to her loving and unconditional relationship with Jesus Christ.  One of her favorite scriptures is St. John 15:16 where Jesus tells us that “You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you.”  This gives every believer who seeks to understand his or her divine purpose an assurance that the very core of our existence is purposed to advance the Kingdom of God through a real relationship with Christ Jesus.
