James Milton McCarroll, Jr. serves as pastor of First Baptist Church in Murfreesboro, TN. He is a Nashville, TN native and received a Bachelors of Business Administration degree with a concentration in Accounting from Tennessee State University in 1999. He further received the Master of Divinity Degree from the Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School in 2003.

He was licensed to preach and ordained to the Christian Ministry at the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late, Rev. James C. Turner, Sr. He has since dedicated his life to bringing the message of faith, hope, and love in God through Jesus Christ.

Currently he is the Moderator of the Stones River District Association and oversees the work and fellowship of over 20 churches in the greater Nashville area. Pastor McCarroll has been blessed to teach and preach at numerous venues across the country as well as internationally in Italy, India, Jamaica, and Guyana. His desire for people to experience the fullness of their Christian possibility has caused him to approach ministry with sensitivity toward the holistic need for the faith, hope, and love required to inherit the power and promises of God. To this end, Pastor McCarroll endeavors to impact the world for Jesus Christ through the communication and application of the Word of God.

  • Chris Williams
    Youth Pastor

My desire as Youth Pastor is to implement programs that meet the needs of our youth. I strive to create opportunities to build life changing relationships with the youth of our church. Our goal is to create an environment where they feel comfortable expressing their issues and/or concerns.

Our leadership team works hard to demonstrate the love and compassion of Jesus Christ to encourage our youth and contribute to their spiritual and emotional well-being. Our goal is to teach our youth about Christ in a fun and relaxed way.

Christian education is a partnership between church and home. We value parent involvement at every level and encourage you to communicate with us. Please feel free to share any issues, ideas, or topics that you feel needs to be addressed with our youth. I am always available to you and your children.

  • Rev. Richard Gordon
    Pastor Emeritus

Rev. Richard Willis Gordon, a native of Owensboro, Kentucky, became our Pastor in 1962.  During his tenure at First Baptist Church, God gave him the vision to build the new structure.  On December 31, 2005 after seeing the vision become reality, Pastor Gordon announced to the membership he would be retiring after 43 years of spiritual leadership at First Baptist Church.

Pastor Gordon in his sermons prepared the congregation for the transition.  He admonished the congregation to enter a season of consecrated prayer and to seek God’s will in determining the next leader.   By divine guidance from the Lord, Rev. James M. McCarroll, Jr. preached his first sermon July 17, 2006.

Paula understands that her life is designed to serve and encourage others.  She worshipfully credits every victory to her loving and unconditional relationship with Jesus Christ.  One of her favorite scriptures is St. John 15:16 where Jesus tells us that “You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you.”  This gives every believer who seeks to understand his or her divine purpose an assurance that the very core of our existence is purposed to advance the Kingdom of God through a real relationship with Christ Jesus.
